About

A small editorial index with a narrow subject and a short list of rules it keeps to.

Luna Protocol covers four categories of hotel: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. The categories were chosen because each has a clear definition and a limited number of properties that genuinely fit it, which makes an index possible without it sprawling into a general travel site.

How entries are written

Entries are prose. We avoid specification tables because they flatten the differences that actually matter between buildings — how a capsule hotel handles bathing, whether an ice hotel has warm rooms beside the cold ones, where a collection is actually hung. Facts are kept general and true to character, and anything we cannot state confidently is left out rather than filled in.

The short fact-tags beneath each entry are summaries of what is in the text above them, not claims of their own.

What this site is not

We are not a booking agent and hold no commercial relationship with the properties described. There are no star ratings here, no guest reviews, no affiliate links and no paid placement. If you want to stay somewhere listed, contact the hotel directly.

Corrections

Hotels change: wings close, collections move, seasonal buildings are not rebuilt. If something here is out of date we would rather hear about it than leave it standing. The contact page explains how to write to us.
